It went from very humble beginnings (Joseph Pilates rigged beds with springs so the bed-ridden could exercise) to a world-wide exercise phenomenon, suitable for all walks of life.

Principles of Pilates

  • The Core (the "cage" of strength encompassing the muscles in the lower abdominals, pelvis, low back, and diaphragm; also sometimes referred to as the "Powerhouse")
