The origins of Ayurveda are shrouded in Indian mythology. “Mahabrahma” (the Hindu god of creation) is said to have communicated this system of healing to a number of enlightened and distinguished personalities. Among them were Charaka who founded internal medicine and Sushrutha, from the Dhanwantara School of surgeons.

Ayurveda has a two-fold aim; to prevent diseases and to treat and cure diseases.  As a holistic discipline, it seeks to promote health on all three planes of life: mentally, physically and spiritually.
